Mobile Food Preparation Vehicles

The Fire Marshals Association of Colorado does not conduct inspections. All inspections are performed by the local Authority Having Jurisdiction, and mobile food vehicle operators must coordinate directly with the fire jurisdiction in which they intend to operate.
FMAC has developed a Mobile Food Vehicle Inspection Form as a collaborative initiative supported by fire marshals across the State of Colorado. The intent of this program is to promote consistency in the fire and life safety inspection process for mobile food vehicles operating in multiple jurisdictions statewide.
This comprehensive inspection form is intended to serve solely as a standardized inspection tool and does not replace or supersede any local licensing requirements or locally adopted and amended fire code provisions. Jurisdictions utilizing this form retain full authority to enforce their locally adopted requirements.
The FMAC subcommittee that developed this program worked in coordination with members of the mobile food vehicle community, who were supportive of the standardized inspection approach. The overall goal of this program is to reduce the need for mobile food vehicles to undergo repetitive full inspections in every jurisdiction in which they operate.
Colorado House Bill 25-1295 establishes that a fire safety permit that has been issued to a mobile food establishment by a local government is valid in any other local government jurisdiction if the fire safety permit was issued:
