PRESENTATION:  Navigating the September 2022 Antifreeze Sunset

The International Fire Code (IFC) requires that water-based fire protection systems are maintained in accordance with NFPA 25. The 2018 IFC references the 2017 edition of NFPA 25. Both the 2017 and 2020 editions of NFPA 25 require the replacement of non-listed antifreeze solutions in existing systems with listed antifreeze solutions by September 30, 2022. We will lead a roundtable discussion featuring representatives from NFPA, NFSA, local system maintainers and installers (e.g., CFPA), state and local AHJs (e.g., DFPC), and manufacturers on how to work together to understand and handle the antifreeze replacement requirement.
